A Vegan’s Guide to Protein

A Vegan’s Guide to Protein

When people think of a vegan or plant based diet, they immediately think of greens and vegetables (or that’s what I thought of before going vegan at least)!

When I first switched my diet, I wasn’t thinking about where I was lacking, or how I would fill in the missing gaps. All I knew was that everyone was asking, “how are you getting your protein?” I legitimately had no idea!

Now, three years later, I can confidently say that I know where I’m getting my protein from.

Here are some of my favorite sources:

  • Beans: my go-to is a hearty chili with chickpeas
  • Peas: easy to add to any stir-frys, or in addition to a meal
  • Quinoa: my favorite! I use this in place of rice
  • Nuts/seeds: chia seeds are easy to add to any smoothie

The only problem with this is that I don’t always have time to think about meal prep and scheduling times to incorporate these meals in my daily diet. Through weeks of planning meals that met my daily protein goals, I realized I needed something quick and easy. I’ve found that using protein shakes and meal replacements is the BEST when it comes to getting protein in on the busiest of days.

When using protein shakes and meal replacements, the main things I look for are the additional benefits, quality of the product, and where the protein comes from. Everything changed when I found VADE Nutrition’s Plant Based Meal Replacement - it checks all of the boxes for me! The protein in this meal replacement comes from peas, and even contains essential vitamins and minerals (bonus!).

Each and every person is different, so I recommend testing out what works best for you! My protein intake has always been on the lower end, so I do my best to make up for it where I can.

VADE’s plant-based meal replacement is an all in one meal replacement made from Pea Protein, Brown Rice, Chicory Root Fiber and an Organic Power Greens Blend. Packed with 26 essential vitamins and minerals, it is a great source of Fiber, Antioxidants, Prebiotics and Clean Fats. VADE 100% Plant Protein is made from only the highest quality ingredients and is lactose free, gluten free and sugar free, with a deliciously creamy taste!
